Error while exporting Crystal Report to Excel

Hi,

all of a sudden we can't export scheduled Crystal Reports to Excel.

We are on SAP BO BI Platform 4.1 SP4 / Windows Server 2012. Export to .rpt is possible, but formats like .xls, .xlsx or .pdf can't be exported.

All publications fail with Error:

"2018-09-20 18:47:27,894 ERROR [PublishingService:HandlerPool-2] BusinessObjects_PublicationAdminLog_Instance_26801913 - [Publication ID # 26801913] - Error while processing document "Report Name" (id 26,801,921): An error occured while exporting the report (CRS 300003) (FBE60512)

We did try the common steps like restarting the server including Tomcat, SIA and DB (SQL Anywhere 12). Unfortunately that didn't help.

Somebody can help?

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards

Hi,

we've found the cause:

The C:\Windows\Temp folder contained more than 2.5 million temporary reports, generated due to scheduled publications. Thereby the NTFS limitation was exceeded and no more temporary reports could be stored for export to Excel or PDF.

So we deleted these old temporary reports. Publications including export run fine now.

Yes, Crystal is bad about leaving temp files, sometimes very large ones, if there's an error in the report. Publication processing will also leave Crystal temp files. It's a good idea to have a regularly scheduled process that will delete old temp files to prevent this from occurring in the future.

Was Java updated on the server or were there any Windows updates just before this started?

Have you tried doing a "repair" install?

Hi,

unfortunately repair installation didn't help.

It is possible to run the report manually and export to .xls, .xlsx or .pdf works fine outside of scheduled publications.

I have attached the appreciable part of the .glf log.

Any other suggestions?

Hi Dell,

thank you for your answer.

No, there weren't any recently updates at all.

We haven't tried a repair installation of BO yet. Probably we should give it a try.
