Hi masters
When something is changed on a RFC I use Reimport Model option on NWDS 7.1, but it doesn´t work well... it just work when I restart NWAS 7.1
Do you know how I can reimport the rfcs without restart the was ?
Hi Lehcim,
You mean that after you deploy you got an exception? if this is the case yo can invalidate the ARFC Cache for your JCO destinations, this option is in System Administration->System Configuration-> Web Dynpro Console.

Hi Eduardo,
I usually try to invalidate the dictionary that I previously imported after a system restart. What usually happens is, even after invalidating, I still have JCO issues in the Portal and then, we perform a Portal restart (J2EE) and its all gone and happy again.
Which way you invalidate your cache? - You invalidate the whole destination or only the selected dictionary? - Because, I know that it should work, but for me (NW7.0) it's not working properly.

Daniel
Hello Lehcim,
You need to reimport the model only when a structure level change has been made in the RFC. Else for changes in the code, there is no need for a model reimport.
There is an alternate method to restarting the server ; you can refresh the metadata of the corresponding RFC. This will clear the cache and the changes will be reflected.
However, sometimes, simply refreshing the metadata does not work and in those cases a server restart is the only solution.

If you are changing structure of BAPI then you need to re-import the BAPI and then need to clear cache. and if you aare just changing the code of BAPI then there is no need to re-import the BAPI.
To clear cache use following approach
Go to Portal http://<hostname>:<porttno>/iindex.html -->Webdynpro tools -->Webdynpro console -->Invalidation of ARFC Metadata cache.
Try to remove this cache.
I hope it heps.

Hi
If you are doing code change in RFC , there is no need to re import the RFC model once again.
If some new fields are added to RFC as import and export parameter, then in this case re import of model is must and after deploying the application re start of j2ee engine is must, so that server will recognize the new field added to RFC.
Thanks
Susmita
