The relationship for storage type and storage location

Hi All,

We have a warehouse number WM1 assigned to Plant_1 and 3 storage locations "SL1"; "SL2" & "SL3".

And we setup 6 storage tpye under WM1:

ST1

ST2

ST3

ST4

ST5

ST6

Can we restrict as following by config?

1. ST1 and ST2 only for SL1;

2. ST3 and ST4 only for SL2;

3. ST5 and ST6 only for SL3;

You cannot directly conrtrol for a storage location and storage type combination.Since storage type are created for a warehouse number and this warehouse number will be assigned to a plant and storage location combination.

But you can assign indicator for storage location then this becomes storage location reference. This storage location reference can be used in putaway and picking strtegies for particular storage types as you desire.

Example ; storage location X is been assigned to indicator 1. and this location A should be assigned to storage types B & C

Then putaway & picking link table assign this indicator as 1 so that the stock of this storage location will be always routed to B & C and not for any other storage types.

Hi,

As rightly mentioned in the above thread by our friend, we can control the storage type to storage locations based on the Storage Location reference indicator.

Use of Storage Location reference
                                                                         
  Depending on the storage location, this indicator influences the storage 
  type search within the transfer order as well as the interim storage     
  type search in the IM posting.

You can maintain the SL reference in the following settings

IMG-LE-WM-Interfaces-Inventory Management - Define Storage Location Control - Storage Location ref.

Now once you have created the SL ref. define the Storage type Search using the SL.ref so that system will only search the storage types which you define in the below settings based on SL.ref.

IMG-LE-WM- Strategies - Activate Storage Type Search - Determine search sequence.
