Hello Team,

I was wondering if someone could help with how to set

Material Movement block for the entire plant during physical inventory.

I will appreciate any input.

when you create inventory documents in MI31, then you can tick the box for movement block.

to not allow any movement in a plant is not a good idea, and is not possible, except you block posting in current period in OB52.

Why should the spare parts warehouse be stopped from doing their work, while the finished goods warehouse does a physical count?

Thank you Jürgen,

I thought as much as you did but we really wanted to suspend all plant activities for the day.

I can run that by the Accounting and Logistics guys if they can do with just the block from MI01.

MI31 is the transaction, I cannot believe that you would like to enter any material in MI01 transaction.

More important than the SAP block, is the organisational block.

If you only block SAP for movements and dont ensure that physically nobody will move anything, then your count may not be worth to be entered into SAP.

Hello Jürgen,

Thanks once again.

I will appreciate if you could point me to a step by step

procedure for MI31.

It appears that method is for non-handling unit managed locations.

We've always used HUINV01 to 06...

But please I will still appreciate the procedure for processing the

batch input. I have a guess though, but I will be better off with the

exact.

Thank you in advance.

The inventory process in general in equal.

creating document - printing documents - counting - enter count - (recount) - post difference.

It is just the step of creating documents which differs between MI01 and MI31.

MI01 wants that the user to enters the material to be counted manually.

While in MI31 you have a huge selection screen, that allows you to create inventory documents for several location at the same time, while SAP takes the materials according to your selection criterias.

MI31 can be executed to create the documents directly or by batch input, in earlier releases it was only possible thru batch input.
