Filter of a Planning Function

In Integrated Planning, if I know the technical name of the planning function, is there a way to find the technical name of its filter? Right now the only way I know is by trial and error. First I search for the "Planning Function" in the planning function tab then using the "settings" I find out the technical name of the "Aggregation Level". Now I will look at each of the filter in this aggregation level to see which one has the required planning function. I wish there's a better way than this! In BPS, you can search for the planning function and right away see the planning package. Please let me know if there's a better way in IP as well. Thanks!

Hi sam,

Search for the plannig sequence where you have used the particular planning function. This sequence will have the filter information as well. Normally, you can integrate a planning function with more than one filter in different planning sequences. So check in the sequence and you would surely find the answer..

Hi

Planning Function is independent of the Filter, but Planning SEquence depends on Filter.

Also Filter is globally used not only by planning sequences but also the Queries and other BEx Objects.

So inorder to find out the Filter, you shoudl have a planning sequence with the Planning fucntion and filter.

And as Matthias suggested you can use the table to find out the Filter used in the Planning Sequence.

Thanks for the explanation. I come from BPS background and there are few changes when it comes to planning functions in IP. In BPS, the planning function is a bit loosely tied to Planning Package in a sense that a planning function can use any planning package under the planning level to which it belongs. Same is the case in IP (technically), but in BPS the planning package contains all the characteristics and key figures of the planning level and hence the function can execute correctly. What I see in IP is that planning function is very loosely tied to Filter. It can use any filter under the aggregation level even though they differ in the characteristics and key figures. I have tried a PF with different filters and it executes with everyone of them! This doesnu2019t sound right! Am I missing something here?

Also, you can only execute a IP planning function if it is included in a planning sequence. An extra step! The modeling is so intuitive in BPS that IP is a bit repulsive.

for me it is exactly the same in BPS and IP.

in BPS the planning function can run with any of the planning packages

in IP the function runs with any of the filters.

(technically this works. which package or filter makes sense for your data only you can decide)

You do not have to include the function in a sequence, you can use also a query as the filter for a function.

This is defined when including your function into web application or workbook.

Hi,

please check table RSPLS_SEQUENCE_S. It contains the information you are asking for.
