How can I activate type ahead search in TM

Hello,

We are running Transportation Management 9.3 on a HANA Db. I had expected that the HANA type ahead functionality would work by default, but apparently it is not. How can I activate this search functionality? My customer does a lot of manual entry and would very much appreciate this.

I did find that the following business functions are inactive:

  • BSCBN_HANA_NAV SAP; HANA-Based Navigation for SAP Business Suite (Reversible)
  • BSESH_HANA_SEARCH; SAP HANA-Based Search for SAP Business Suite (Reversible)

Should I activate these first?

Regards,

Sjaak van den Berg

I think I have found the answer to this: SAP Note 2307523 states that "combined search" needs to be deactivated to activate the SAP Hana standard "Type Ahead" search. This note applies to SCMB (SCM basis) version 7.14. We are currently running 7.13. From this I conclude that we need to upgrade to have it available.

Hi Sjaak,

If i understand you want to have the functionality that if a user partially types something in a field that TM comes with a couple of full values to choose from?

If yes, use the Suggest Values. To Enable the suggest values please set the Application Parameter "WDALLOWVALUESUGGEST" with the value "ON". In FLUID you can choose per field if the functionality is activated or not. Default for Input fields is "Activated".

If not, please provide some additional information about the functionality you want to achieve.

I hope this can help you a bit and let me know if you have further questions.

Best regards,

Sander Knoll

PS: To be complete a link to the Fuzzy search documentation wich you probably already found.

Dear Sjaak,

There are some possibilities regarding Fuzzy search in TM9.0 and higher(also when you are not on S/4 Hana, only on Hana database, which is your case if I am correct). For more details I refer to the blog of Stefan Foerster:

https://blogs.sap.com/2016/01/20/businesspartner-and-orgunit-search-in-sap-tm-uis/

Ofcourse you can also make the input easier by using Forwarding Order templates, personal value lists, using default values, etc....

With kind regards,

Hi Benno,

Thanks for your answer. Problem is that I already read this blog and it made me realize that the fuzzy search function in our system is not working correctly. In the blog it is discribed that non-HANA systems show a list of possible values based on the id number and it is explained how to get a nicer selection based on the combined search. However, we do have a HANA db under our TM system and the fuzzy search (type-ahead) should be available "out-of-the-box". I clearly remember that I read another blog on this and that even states that the "combined search" has to be deactivated to have the "fuzzy search" working properly. And that is exactly where I am lost. I cannot locate the document anymore where I read this and am puzzled as to why the HANA standard search is not working.
