There are a number of factors you need to look at first. These include:

1. What type of data are you migrating? I.e. ArchiveLink, DMS or Data Archiving

2. What is the method for the current storage. I.e. RFC or HTTP. If its HTTP its much easier, if its RFC, then there is more work to be done to convert from RFC to HTTP.

From there, you can identify what method of migration needs to be assigned, what problems or programs need to be written to help with the migration. I.e. to verify after the migration that all the documents are there because sometimes the migration programs don't always run correctly.

Migration can be simple in some cases, but depending on your current scenario, you may encounter more problems than you originally planned on and the process can be complex.

Hi,

Here is the answer to your question:

1. What type of data are you migrating? I.e. ArchiveLink, DMS or Data Archiving

Answer: We are migrating the ArchiveLink data which contains Imaging.

2. What is the method for the current storage. I.e. RFC or HTTP. If its HTTP its much easier, if its RFC, then there is more work to be done to convert from RFC to HTTP.

Answer: Current Storage method is RFC.

Can you please help with above details? Do you have any document or OSS note or guideline to do this kind of conversion?

Appreciate your help.

Thanks

hi,

Please refer Snote 1043676; this seems to be a report to migrate ArchiveLink documents from one content repository to other.

OSS Note 1043676

Please ensure you write reports to check the number of archive files before and after the migration, the size of the archive files etc. We have seen this report fail before and the only way to verify the success is to write these reports.

Hi Athol Hill,

I have seen your post which matches my requirement.

As per the questions which you have asked in the post ....

1. What type of data are you migrating? I.e. ArchiveLink, DMS or Data Archiving

Answer: We are migrating the DMS data which may contain documents(any type) and Imaging.

2. What is the method for the current storage. I.e. RFC or HTTP. If its HTTP its much easier, if its RFC, then there is more work to be done to convert from RFC to HTTP.

Answer: Current Storage method is HTTP.

Our requirement is 'Migrating of the existing data sources from E-Library, File Server and Auto CAD server(present Client third part servers) to the SAP Content repository(Content server).

Could you help me a sample program or guide lines how can start coding with some steps since i am not getting how and where to start the code.

Requirement was to automate the migration process by creating a Custom Program.

Thanks
