Error on role import for SAP integration with BO in CMC (3.1)

Former Member

Hello,

We are trying to integrate existing BO environment in our company with existing BW installation.

BO Environment - 3.1

BW/ECC Environment - (BW - BI 7.0 SP20, ECC 6.0)

So got the pre-requisites completed and the transports imported into both BW and ECC environments. Upon these steps we went ahead and installed the integration kit for 3.1 system.

There were no error messages, after we completed the installation went into infoview and in the authentication drop down checked to see if I can get "SAP" in there....which it did. So, I am assuming there were no issues till this point which we might have missed out.

Upon this, when I went into SAP authentication in CMC and double clicked on SAP and in the next screen clicked on "NEW" and added in the application server, system number, id and password and updated it...this automatically updated the logical system.

But when I go into the role import, it gives me the following error message....

Exception in JSP: /jsp/auth/sapsec_import_role.jsp:22:19:20: <%21:string context::secSAPR3ImportRoleBean.getContextPath():22: secSAPR3ImportRoleBean.init(request):23:response.setHeader("Expires","0"):24: 5> Stacktrace:

The only thing is we have not assigned the CRYSTAL_ENTITLEMENT role to it as we are at this point only trying to see if we can log into webi...

So, is it required to assign this role to an existing user id role in order for me to import the roles into BO CMC screen in order to be assigned to a group.

Can you please help me out on this.

Thanks

Dharma.

Hi,

take a look at these two notes:

1292144 - JCO error when Importing SAP Roles in CMC

1274700 - SAP Role Import error: com/sap/mw/jco/JCO$Function

Hello Ingo,

Thanks for the response.

I did look into the two OSS Notes, and they are mentioning about single sign on being tried. We are not planning to do single sign on.

Also, I confirmed the Java Connector step for 2.1.8 was completed as per your blogs and the integration kit installation manual.

The error mentioned in the OSS Notes is different than the error I have encountered when trying to click on the Role import tab.

So, the question is do we have to assign the CRYSTAL_ENTITLEMENT role even to access BO enterprise tools other than Crystal reports. Can you please confirm.

Thanks

Dharma.

so I assume we are talking about setting up the SAP authentication.

did you deploy all the parts from the SAP Java Connector ?

Did you configure the user that you are using in the CMC with the required authorizations (outlined in the installation guide)

Hello Ingo,

Thanks a lot for looking into the question.

Yes, we are taking about the SAP Authentication part where I am trying to import roles in SAP into BO after I provide the login information in the Entitlement systems tab.

I confirmed that all parts of Java Connector configuration were taken care of as mentioned in the installation manual and from your blog.

The only piece left off is the CRYSTAL_ENTITLEMENT role assignment to the id which is used within the entitlement systems tab in CMC. I will get this configured and try it one more time.

Just to confirm,

1. The new user id to be created (should it be a RFC user or dialog user)

2. Is the only role to be assigned to the new user is CRYSTAL_ENTITLEMENT with the authorization mentioned in the installation manual

3. What are the roles to be imported into BO within CMC (are these the roles which we want for data access)

4. When a user tries to login with any other user id other than the one listed in Entitlement systems tab, does it use the roles assigned to that person in SAP to retrieve the data or would it be dependent on the roles imported into BO within CMC in earlier step.

Please let me know.

Thanks

Dharma.

Hi,

the user needs to have the authorizations - with or without role doesn't matter.

Take a look at the detailed authorizations in the Installation Guide and make sure the user has at least those as a minimum level of authorizations.

Hello Ingo,

The id assigned within entitlement systems tab did not have proper authorization, after the authorization was completely assigned as per the installation document the error I previously mentioned went off and came across another error related to JCO.

Since the system was 64 bit system we downloaded 64 bit X86 version Java Connector, but the system complained about it.

So, had to re download the 32 bit version and when we tried again we were able to import the roles into BO system.

I will ask a quick question, lets say we have multiple roles in BI system....when I transfer the roles over....do I have to assign each role to a group within BO or is it Ok to just transfer the roles....

Thanks

Dharma.

Hi,

you can import the roles and then you need to assign the necessary rights in the BOE system. the set of rights depends on what these roles should be allowed to do in the system.

A good practice could be to setup BusinessObjects User groups and assign the rights to these user groups, and then make the SAP roles members of these user groups. in that way you can reduce the administrative effort needed.

Hi Ingo,

The Integration Kit of SAP BO XI 3.1 has been installed.

I would like to test if it is possible to trigger an event in Crystal Enterprise server from a BW process chain and then schedule a report to run.

I read that you confirmed that we could do it using file event in other thread.

Could you write me the steps to do it ? BW process chains and in Crystal Enterprise.

1. Ho to send a file at the end of the process chain ? I would like the file arrives in CE server and not in BI 7 server. How do you process to do it

2. What are the steps in Crystal Enterprise to customize this file event and then schedule a report to run.

?

I go through the CMC and I see we have 3 ways to use an event (custom event, file event, scheduled event). Ho do you customize for it ?

Thank in advance for your help.
