Encryption of data...

I have a customer that has a requirement in respect of encryption as the data for the project is very sensitive (salaries,..). Does anybody know how SAP BPC deals with such a requirement?

    Hi Bjorn,

The only way that I've heard of, is to do the encryption & decryption entirely in the Excel front-end. I've never seen this in action, so I'm not sure exactly how it would work, but it wouldn't really be involving BPC much at all.

Then the encrypted number is submitted & stored in the database. One obvious limitation is that the encrypted data can't be aggregated (or calculated in any manner) in the DB, since the DB wouldn't be able to decrypt (without defeating the whole purpose of the encryption) -- unless you design some other customization which can also pass through the encrypted data to the same decryption algorithm as is used by the Excel front-end.
