procedure to add a Crystal report in Infoview

Hi !

I've been starting with Crystal Reports some weeks ago and I'm wondering whether I'm doing the "publishing" of my reports properly.

Here are the steps that I follow :

1-Creation of the report in Crystal Reports

2-To make this report available by the BO users, I create a new object in the CMC (browsing the report and selecting the folder destination)

3-Once it's done, I can access the report in Infoview and see the objects generated in Business View Manager

Each time I make a change in the report, I have to :

1-delete the report from the CMC (or Infoview)

2-delete all the info related to this report from Business View Manager

3-re-create a new object in the CMC

Is this the correct way to do it? Is there a way to update the report instead of remove the previous version and re-create a new one?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Leena

I think this is the wrong forum - you should be in the Business Objects Administration forum for this question (I know, it's CR related, but when talking about the CMC... well you get the point).

Yes you are partially doing this correctly, but there are easier ways. You can update the report directly on the server if you like. To do this, in Crystal Reports: Click Open. On the left side you will see a tab for "Enterprise". Click that and it may prompt you for log in information. Once you update the report, simply click save and it will resave to the server.

If you need to update the repository (BVM), you can do that directly in the BVM. Remember though, if you want to update a data foundation, use the object explorer on the right to change it. Under tables, you can right click to "edit" things. Then click save, and it will make sure all business elements and business views are updated as well. If your change adds or deletes fields, then open up the corresponding Business Element and make sure you add or delete the fields from the object explorer.

That should be a little easier than deleting and readding each time.

Cheers!
