ABAP +JAVA system copy process

Former Member

Hello All,

We are in process of building a server from a existing ECC 6.0 ABAP + JAVA system.

We are using system copy process where we are restoring ABAP databse from source system.

My question is about the JAVA part.

How can we copy java part? Can we export only JAVA part from ECC 6.0 ABAP +JAVA system and import this to target server.

Please suugest the process.

Regards,

Manish

Hi Manoj,

When you are doing restore of your P(DUAL stack)system then it will automatically restores your ABAP and JAVA scehema table spaces(Normal usage). And If you are using sapinst then take a CI export(for file system/java settings etc) of your source system and then you have to import that in your target system later in the process. So this procedure will automatially serve for both ABAP and JAVA schemas. Importantly this procedue was highly recommended by SAP,so if you run into any issues then you can go ahead and raise a OSS msg.

Other guy already pasted the link for homogenious copy guides

But you can do your java export from command level also(with out using SAPINST) and later you can import it into your target system. This means you are exporting your JAVA schema table space and importing.Keep it in mind that you have to export your Target java scehema not source system .If you do so then its of no use because you have to perform all post steps for java stack also. You can export and import table j2ee table space from your OS level at DB host using "exp javascehma/pwd ........."(not a full fledged command) and then you do the same by perforing "imp........." after restore and recovery from your P(source) system. But this is not at all recommended by SAP but this will work!.

Let every one to know if you need anything more than this.

Srikanth,

Appricite your reply. Here i do not have any target system. I am building a fresh sand box for which backup restore is done.

The problem about JAVA part was realised when i tried to conenct to config tool. The secure store was not created properly becasue this is new SID.

Now i want only JAVA export of source and have it install on this new server. I know only will not solve my purpose becasue secstore is created only during DB import. So i want to take DB export of source.

Main question is can i take export of only JAVA export from ABAP + JAVA system?

Manish,

As i already told, you can take the Java export seperately.

you can mention the Java export path while using SAP inst tool.

I agree with you Raj.....Yes , Answer is as simple as this.

Just for your future reference:-

Use below work around - (for SR2 NW7.0 and Oracle db:-(Not sure of your sys config)

RUN sapinst in your Source system ->

SAP Netweaver 2004s SR2 -> SAP ERP*release-> additional Software life cycle tasks->system copy->oracle->High availability system->BASED on abap and java->Central instance export

here you have to give export location(to your local disk) as one of the parameter.Make sure you uncheck STOP RUNNING SYSTEM.(If you check this and execute then your Source system will go down).

Then you can import this later in your target system.Hope this will clear your issue.

Let me know if you need any other help.

Thank you.

Hi Manish,

No No.This JAVA export is nothing to do with underlying data in Database. No need of doing any thing at DB level.

Let me talk about clear steps of homogenious copy of dual stack systems

1)you have to take java export(CI export) of your Source system(as discussed in my previous note)

2)then you said you have already done Database instance installation by using your control file of your backup restore and recovery

3)then import your JAVA on your target (from the location from wher you have exported initially) at CI

and proceed with your post steps.

hope this will help you.

But at the end I would strongly suggest you to refer standard SAP copy method whch will explain the detailed procedure which I was talking about.

Thanks

Hi Manish,

Running SAPNIST is a must for ABAP+JAVA instance system copy process.

If you are using the backup/restore for the ABAP schema, then -

Yes, You should also perform the Java export (on the source system).

{Eg. Additional Software Lifecycle Tasks -> System Copy -> Oracle -> Source System -> Central System à Database and Central instance Export. Just select the Java Schema for the export}.

This java export directory can be used during the sainst run. (sainst will ask for the export location. At that point, enter the Java export location)

At a point, the sainst will ask you to perform the DB restore and you can perform the restore that time.

Hope this helps!

Manish,

Are you using the SAP inst tool for system copy?

Then we can take both ABAP+JAVA export. Instead of taking ABAP and Java Seperately.
