Opening Reports Created in Older Version

I have written some reports in a newer version of BO:

SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.2 Support Pack 4 Patch 1

Our client has an older version of BO:

SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.2 Support Pack 3 Patch 6

The reports we have written do not work in the older version, whenever we try to open them we get the following error:

Is there a way to get them to work or do we have to re-write all the reports in the older version?

Backward compatibility is not supported and not recommended.I don't think there is any other way except upgrade the client tools to open the the report in rich client.

Why client tools are not upgraded to BI 4.2 SP04?

Thank you Amit; the client doesn't want to upgrade yet as they're a first of type... i.e., no clients have upgraded to it yet...?

If reports are not opening in lower version then you need to rebuild these reports.

Just check if some features you have used in the report building which are not available in BI 4.2 SP03. Also try to purge the data and save as the report in structure mode and try.

HI Michael,

As discussed, it is not supported to migrate a WebI report from a newer SP to an older SP.

This kba discusses it: 2237617

You would either have to upgrade the client or rebuild the reports in the same version as the client.
