Long text for characteristic value? Max is 30 Char, is there a way to store more?

Dear Seniors,

In the characteristics we can store values up to 30 characters.

The requirement from the customer is to store more characters, a long text.

This is for a document class (type 017).

Please let me know what options we have here.

Hi,

when you create the characteristic in CT04 there is an icon on the right side of the description field called "Documentation for description". This I think is the longtext you are looking for, hopefully. 🙂

If you are talking about the values for this characteristic the length at the moment is 30.

Please keep in mind: The activation of the usage of enhanced characteristics and characteristic values is linked to the switch for enhanced material numbers.

You can activate the Extended Material Number Functionality in the customizing under IMG -> Cross-Application Components -> General Application Functions -> Field length Extension -> Activate extended fields

Alternative: Transaction FLETS (For the table maintenance the authorization group FLE [authorization object S_TABU_DIS] is required).
