Hi Jitendra,

don't you agree that it would be a good idea to ask your storage vendor how its implementation of such a feature should be used?

Hi Lars,

Thanks for your reply. But my question is how to configure database in standby mode in storage base replication.

Please help. Awaiting your reply.

You may find the Oracle standby database whitepaper useful in the link below.

Hi Manoj,

These links are not enough to implement the DR Site. Can you suggest me more about the Disaster configuration.

Hi,

You can make use of log shipping methodology / cluster method for setting up stand alone DR, but you need to contact ur DB team on how to set this up, probably u require third party tool like lite speed / tivoli for this configuration.

If you want to do, as you stated, do replication on a storage level, then you should, as already suggested, contact your storage vendor for information how this can be set up. There are dozen of different storage systems available with at least as much possibilities to configure and since you didn't even specify which one you use, how should someone suggest something?

This is once again one of the messages where I hardly can resist to push the abuse button...

When so many fundamental questions are open - maybe this task should just be done by somebody else...

Hi Markus,

I am going to implement DR Site i.e. storage base replication and database should be in standby mode at disaster site. so I just wanted to know for the database stand mode, what will be the configuration on both the node i.e. primarary site as well as DR Site,

Request you to kindly suggest what will be the steps in both the nodes. please help.

What do you replicate? Just the archive logs or do you replicate also the database volumes?

hi Markus,

As per my plan I will restore the online backup on Disaster site. After this we configure the database in standby mode and then every 20 minutes archive log will shipped from primary site to disaster site and these archive logs should apply automatically on disaster site. For this scenario how I configure database at disaster site as well as primary site.

Ok - so far so good.

But where is your "storage based replication" then? What you specify is a classical standby database using logshipping.
