What is the deference between the service part items and sales item?

Hello All

I found two scenarios for service order, one contains service part items and this will not create a sales order in R/3 and the other one contains service items and this one will not create a sales order R/3, still I am not able to realize the deference between the sales items and service part item so I can put the sales items as service parts so no sales orders in R/3 will be created and the confirmation will issues the sales items

I need a clarification with examples if possible

Thanks in advance

Jacopo Françoise

Hi

If the Service Employee is taking the material to Customer site it has to be entered as Service part items.

If the material needs to be shipped to customer then you enter that as Sales items. A sales order is crated to take care of shipping and delivery.

Hope this helps

What we have is; spare parts for vehicles we are selling them separately via sales orders u201Csales order cycleu201D also we used the same spare parts in the service orders. So can I use the same item as a service material in service orders and a sales material in the sales orders?

You can use the same material as a spare part consumed in service order or as a sales item in a sales order

Hi

you can control this by item category determination:

1. First maintain the item category group (e.g. NORM) on material

tcode commpr01

2. Now maintain item category determination for sales and service

Sales Order > Item cat group (NORM) > Item cat (TAN)

Service Order > Item cat group (NORM) > Item cat (SRVM)

Hope this helps
