TIBCO to BW Connectivity

Friends,

BW - 7.4 on hana

We have a requirement to connect TIBCO to SAP BW system.

BW needs to get data from TIBCO

(Tibco gets data from old legacy systems.)

I did not find any documentation on how to connect TIBCO to SAP BW. I have seen document on how to connect it to SAP.

Do we have in build connectors, or its a RFC call.

If you have implemented or have any documents related to connectivity please share.

Thanks for your time

Ed.

    Hi Edward,

I have never worked in this area, but I'll give you my best guess. Let us know if it works.

TIBCO is a messaging system. Follow the instuctions of your document to create a HANA native table to catch the data . (All BW systems are SAP systems.) Create an ODS View of the table in the "MySelf" BW system, and proceed with data transfer and transformation in BW.

FYI: TIBCO also has a BW product, unrelated to SAP BW. Don't get confused.

    Good luck,

    John Hawk

    Hi Edward,

I'm pretty sure Tibco has an ODBC or JDBC interface. You can use SAP HANA smart data integration to connect to that and get the data to SAP BW via a HANA source system.

    Hi Edward,

there are several Open Analysis Interfaces.

check with frontend vendor Tibco directly what interface they have implemented and what is recent for your version, see some sample document here, I found on the Tibco website: https://docs.tibco.com/pub/sfire-analyst/7.10.0/doc/html/en-US/TIB_sfire-analyst_CubesInSpotfire/GUID-383F5A8D-BA60-4191-A2D9-9425114F1821.html

    Cheers,

    Nora

Thanks John and Mark for your reply.

These are the steps I have followed with basis and tibco team.

TCP/IP connection is setup for TIBCO. Required program ID's are registered at TIBCO.

SM59 connection check looks good. RSA1-> source system check for TIBCO looks good.

When I try to create a datasource for transaction data, it throws an error "DataSource TEST(TIBCO_XXXX): Object type RSDS not supported in BAPI source system. I asked TIBCO to register the BAPI - "BAPI_DSOURCE_IS_SUPPORTED"

If I try to ignore the error and go ahead and create a datasource, it allows me to do so, however when I create an info package for this datasource, in the 3rd party selections it asks for "'BAPI_ISOURCE_DP_GETPARDEF" bapi.

TIBCO registered both the bapi's from their end. However its not working from BW.

TIBCO suggested me to use IDOCs' as a mode of transfer instead of BAPI's - I did not yet go to the route of hana tables or hana smart data integration. My last resort would be ask tibco to drop a file and process it in bw.

    let me know your thoughts
