SAP Graphics - IW28 / IW38 etc

IW28 and IW38 have scheduling overview functionality that present Gantt charts using SAP Graphics technology.

Unfortunately the information in the left hand column is fairly sparse. What skills are required to customize these graphics e.g. add plant section and FLoc to the left hand column?

GreyBeard,

My personal opinion: It might be easier to download the data to MS Excel and use macros and graphs to present the data in the format you require.

The benefits of this method are:

- Most people can use MS Excel fluently

- There is usually someone with VB/VBA experience locally

- Changes and improvements can be made quickly and at very low cost

GreyBeard,

There isnt a customising option for this functionality.

However, if you are ECC 6.0, you could look at the enhancing(Using Implicit enhancements) the standard code to add the neccessary fields on the Left hand block, if you are on ECC6.0. This would be a very simple change looking at what you need. The restriction would be in the maximum length of text that can be displayed on the screen (80 Chars).

The Program actually calls the standard FM GRAPH_GANTT.At the begining of the FM you could place your implict enhancement, which is active for specific TCODE.Within this you could read the Object key from table ITEM and collect the neccessary information and update the ITEXT Text field with that information.

Hope this helps.

Pete,

Agree this may be the answer for simplicity however, as I suspected client wants download/upload. Don't want to generate scheduling conflicts in MSProject so if we can deiver a useable overview screen for IW28 & IW38 this will be better for the business.

GreyBeard,

I've worked with these graphics many years ago and it was a real pain..

Another possibility is to copy the relevant programs and make changes where necessary. This way you woun't be restricted by the current program limitations. You could also add a button which downloads the data to excel to show the graphics but keeps the IW28/29 session open.

Too many possibilities...

What are the business requirements?

Pete,

Simply to display the weekly schedules as a Gantt chart and print it. Had a similar requirement on a prevous project for PRT scheduling and there was a quick turnaround on the development - therefore I was expecting it to be not so complicated.

Have a look at the SAP Graphics - it may be simpler than I remember.

It may be worth posting the question in the PP and PS forums as this tecchnology is shared between PM/CS/PP/PS

Client has moved the goal posts, but this still has great potential to remove reliance on 3rd party programs for graphic display e.g. MS Project.
