Hi Sandhya,

Where are these Users exists, in Portal UME/ABAP/LDAP?

The best practice is to maintain the users in Groups (probably department wise) and you can assign Roles to those Group(s).

Or the other way already said is to use IMPORT/EXPORT feature.

Thanks,

Hi sandhya,

You can use the Import / Export Functionality of the UME to assign multiple roles to users. You can build an excel file and then copy the data in the text file and import it in UME.

Cheers !!

Hi Zaheer,

I have used this import option and managed to create group and assigned all the users to the group. Is there any way to add the users to the existing group thorugh the import option. when i try to add the new users it says the group exists and the new users are not added to the group.

Could you please provide some information on this?

Hi Sandhya,

You can create roles with no authorizations also called as place holders in R/3 and assign the Users to these roles. These roles appear as groups in Java side where you can assign the Portal roles.

Users in R/3 can be easily updated using Ecatt scripts.

I hope this helps..
