Splitting of components requirements.

Hi,

In my scenario, minimum production order lead time is 3 weeks. My FERT lot size is fixed lot size. Each order will be released for 9000 nos. In my FERT BOM one of the HALB component occupies more space to store. I can't procure all the 9000 HALB to produce the 9000FERT. For example my production order start date is 10th Aug'09. As per SAP, the system will suggest all the 9000 nos of HALB should be required on 10th Aug'09. But practically we can't store the 9000nos in our storage location. We need to procure by 3000nos in 3 weeks each.

Is there any possibility in SAP that, the entire HALB qty should be divided by 3 and the system has to generate the purchase order for first week is 3000nos, 2nd week is 3000nos & 3rd week is 3000nos like this the system should split the HALB component requirement.

I am not talking about order split. I am talking about the component requirement split.

PP gurus, please help me how we can map this in SAP.

Hi,

If at any one time that is one production order for FERT. Then you may consider following as solution. You need to change the BOM of FERT, in the general item overview of BOM, split the FERT to 3 lines, 3000 nos each line. And access to item detail for 2nd and 3rd line of HALB to maintain the Operation Lead Time Offset (Oper. LT offset). The 2nd line maintained 7 days, the 3 rd lines maintain 14 days.

These will generated the requirement for 1st 3000nos on the operation start date, 2nd 3000nos on the 7th day after the operation start date, and 3rd 3000nos of the 14days after the requirement start date.

Please let us know if above resolve the issue.

Hi

I understand the your are procuring HALB instead of manufacturing. If this is the case go to ME13 info record for this material and maintain maximum quantity is 3000 and planned delivery time is one week. Then the system will split this component into 3000 lots.
