Different tolerance ranges for same inspection characteristic

Hi Experts,

I have a scenario where the same HALB material in the plant can be of 3 different grades.

Accordingly, if I do a split valuation based on the 3 grades, how is it possible to generate 3 different ranges (maximum and minimum values) for the same inspection characteristic when result recording will be done for the material during procurement or production?

Hi,

As per my understanding .its better to create a counters and give it valuation type as a description and add MIC's , assign task list manually as you know the valuation type . but it is not possible dynamic change in tolerances as per valuation type.pl clear if have a dought.

Cheers

If you have three diff range for inspection for same type of MIC the create three diff. MIC like M1, M2, M3 and assign to insp plan.

Hope this helps.

Hi Nehal,

Thanks for the quick reply. I have 2 questions:

1. If I have understood your solution, you are suggesting creating 3 different MICs, ex. purity1, purity2 and purity3 with 3 different ranges. But is it possible in any way to have only one MIC purity with 3 different ranges depending on the valuation type being checked ?

2. Even if I have 3 different MICs as suggested, and assign them to the same material's inspection plan (maybe through 3 group counters?), how do I link each of these counters to a particular valuation type ?

.

A1 - No, it is not possible to assign 3 diff range to single MIC.

A2 - Create 3 diff MIC. If you are sure that for which plan which range will be applicable then assign group counter wise otherwise assign all three MIC to same counter. No need to assign diff counter. If you don't want to do inspection for all three range each time then select control indicator - "optional char." This way you skip inspection if you need.

Hope it clears.

Thanks!!!

Hi Nehal,

In any particular group counter the related inspection plan for a material, as i know it, can be only further divided on the basis of material assignment (vendor based). Where is the option to link it with the valuation types for the material ? Please suggest.

You have two option here.

Option 1:

Create three diff MIC range/ valuation wise & assign single insp plan as optional MIC, so this way you need to create one IP & you can do RR for MIC which applicable.

Option 2:

Create 3 diff IP MIC range/ valuation wise, assign Material & vendor to IP. Give IP name such a way so you can identify which IP contain which MIC.

Like - IP with MIC valuation 1...

So once system create Lot then you need to assignIP manually. Once you click on IP assignment in lot then system suggest all three Plan. Select whatever applicable.

This is just my suggestion. Check with your business & implement solution whatever suitable.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!!!

Hi,

For a single MIC if you have 3 ranges (one each for IP,BP USP) you can make use of the multiple specifications functionality.

This functionality is there in ECC6 only.
