MDG-C: how BP roles are mapped to CRM ?

In our company we are starting with "MDG for Customers implementation project" and I'm trying to understand how integration between MDG-C and CRM will work.

In ECC the standard defined BP Roles are different than those in CRM

(ECC: FLCU00 - FI Customer, FLCU01 Customer and so on, but in CRM: CRM000 Sold-To Party, CRM002 Ship-To Party etc.)

Should the CRM BP Roles definition be copied to MDG-C (ECC) system? Or there is some mapping to be configured? I was trying to find some documentation - but there is noting on this particular topic.

Hi Mohamed,

we decided to use the same roles like in SAP CRM (CRM000, BBP000 and so on) instead of using the FLCU*- / FLVN*-roles. The FL*-Roles are nice if you use transaction BP, but in MDG UI they are not needed. Means by this there is no mapping needed. So this might also be a solution...

Kind regards,

Hi Loga,

Thank you for the hints, but there is not much about BP Roles.

I've found in standard help the below statements:

In MDGS and MDGC you need to define all business partner roles, which are required in the connected client systems. SAP recommends to use the roles Business Partner Vendor (FLVN01) and Business Partner FI Vendor (FLVN00) for MDGS and the roles Business Partner Customer (FLCU01) and Business Partner FI Customer (FLCU00) for MDGC.

If a system from SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) is connected as a client, the role Bidder (BBP001) is required. For the SRM-specific roles Vendor (BBP000) and Invoicing Party (BBP006) value mapping should be provided, which maps Business Partner Vendor (FLVN01) to Vendor (BBP000) and Business Partner FI Vendor (FLVN00) to Invoicing Party (BBP006).

Which make even more mess in my head 😉

First it says I need to define in MDG the BP Roles from client system, but then it says about value mapping for the roles between MDG and client system (SRM in this case). Does it mean I need to define the "client system roles" just to use them in mapping?
