Thrown back to login page when trying to log on to web ui

Hi colleagues,

we are experiencing an interesting situation over here in both our crm 6.0 and crm 7.0 systems:

In both systems, using valid login information one is thrown back to the logon page after hitting the login button. Roles and profiles seem to be maintained. Bot systems are set to NOT switch to https.

The helpers given in note 1244321 do not show any result.

Any help appreciated.

OK, solved it.

Several things need to be taken care of:

- the browser must accept cookies

- the cookies relate to the fully qualified domain name only, this means that a log in with an ip address will not work

- if the local machine does not resolve the fqdn then the local hosts file needs to be edited and the matching of ip address and fqdn needs to be entered
