Hi,
I've installed MDM 7.1 and oracle 10.2.0.2.0 on Windows 2003 server Enterprise Edition.
I'm able to mount the MDM server where all these are installed. But when I try to mount the repository with the SYSTEM user I'm facing an error saying "unable to connect with database server".
The results of the tnsping <SID> seems to be vey much fine. I'm able to get the successful result after testing through Net Configuration Assistant.
Can someone please help me reolve this sissue ?

Hello Varadhu
You must check sql connections to database from sql-plus
You need do next:
- run sqlplus for win
- enter user
pass
"as sysdba"
if you get message "Connected" - all OK
- close sqlplus
other variant:
-run cmd.exe
-run "slqplus /nolog"
-enter "conn username/pass@<sid> as sysdba"
if you get message "Connected" - all OK
-enter "quit"
-close cmd.exe window
message "Connected" inform you what DBMS server work fine and you can connected to database
Then you must enter "DBMS settings" in SAP MDM Console
add new DBMS connection
-enter SID
-select dtype of DBMS (Oracle)
-enter user
- enter pass
- press "OK"
main problem with connection failed to load OCI.DLL(that you can see in SEVER logs)
search in that forum how fix that error

Hi,
Thanks for all your replies.
The issue was with the oracle client interface library file. MDM server was not able to load the OCI.DLL file as I've two types of database installed in my machine (oracle 64 bit and oracle 32 bit) I've replaced the dll file of the 32 bit oracle with the one of the 64 bit oracle and then restarted the server. This solved the issue.

Hi Varadu,
I'm facing the same error message. However, all the oracle instances on this windows server are 64 bit version.
Any input on what other aspects of the DB connection may be causing the problem? .
DB connectivity via sqlplus checks out fine. No other apparent errors on the oracle side.
regards.

Hi Varadhu,
I guess the SYSTEM user is oracle specific.
You need to mount the repository with your MDM passord.
Hope it helps.
Thanks,
Minaz
