Cannot reactivate S/4HANA CAL solution after purchasing license/subscription

30-day trial expired for our S/4HANA CAL solution. After purchasing a license/subscription through SAP Store, the solution is now Unlocked and shows as Activated, but at the instance level the license information states "Not licensed" and "Note that you have to unlock the solution "SAP S/4HANA 1709 FPS01, Fully-Activated Appliance" to continue using this instance." How can I reactivate the current instance so that we can continue using it?

Hi Stanimir,

- thanks for responding quickly. The CAL solution was created with a P-user, but then I got an S-user, requested access to the tenant with the CAL, and approved it and made it Administrator while I was logged in as the P-user. That allowed me to request the subscription and perform the Unlock at the CAL solution level. Reading the blog entry you linked to more closely, I realized I had failed to make the S-user Owner, which I have subsequently done. Now, logging in as the S-user, which is now both Administrator at the Solution level, and Owner at the Account level, being the user that has access to the subscription bought in the SAP Store, I still have the same situation: the solution is listed as Activated, but the Instance remains in the Suspended state, saying "Instance Operation Failed" and an error message saying "The activations of the solution have expired; you cannot activate the instance".

Can you, or anyone, shed some light on how to proceed?

Hi Thomas,

I'd recommend to report an incident where you can provide all the details - the instance ID (you can copy it from the URL when you go to the instance details), the P-user and the S-user. For more information see https://cal.sap.com/catalog#/support.

Best regards,

Hello Thomas,

Most probably the trial instance and the SAP CAL subscription belong to different users. Please check the last two paragraphs of this blog.

Best regards,
