object links to several back-end systems

Hello,

we have installed cProjects 4.5 since a year on one of our SAP systems.

At time we use from cProjects object links to material master data records on the same SAP system. For this we setup the RFC destination to NONE (Customizing: Collaboration Projects > Connection to External Systems > Object Links in SAP Systems > Make Settings for the Linked SAP Objects > Object Type = 0PLANTMATERIAL).

In our company we use also an other SAP system. Now we want to establish an additional object link for material master records to this other SAP system. The users who use object links to their own material master data records are divided in seperate project types. So we should have the possibility to make object links to both SAP systems in the same cProjects enviroment. If we can divide this on basis of the project type it would be great.

In the cProjects Q&A wiki I found the following statement:

Are object links to several back-end systems supported?

Yes, if links to multiple back-end systems are set up, a drop down let you choose during link creation.

But after long search I didn't find any informations to setup this functionality.

Is there anybody who has knowledge about this?

I'm thankful for any hints.

Many thanks in advance

Daniel Hänggi

Hi Daniel,

there is a dedicated document on the service market place ([service.sap.com]) "cProjects: Guide for Implementing Object Links" that explains what needs to be done to set up object links.

Navigation:

Release & Upgrade Info > Installation & Upgrade Guide > SAP PLM > using cProject Suite 4.5

This should provide all the information you need to set up object links to extenal systems.

Best regards,

Thomas

Hello Thomas and Pramod,

many thanks for your responses.

In the recommended document I found the solution - many thanks Thomas.

In chapter 5 "custom object links" the solution is described to implement several back-end systems for object links.

There is also a report RCOPY_SAP_OBJECT_TYPE to make an easy copy of an existent "SAP object link" to an additional "custom object link".

I've implemented it on our system and it runs perfect.

Many thanks and best regards

Daniel

hi,

I think you should try by doing new entry for the same object type giving other SAP system destiation. it will show you both the object links in cProjects object link tab.
