Dear Experts....

I need to create a new client (client role : Production) in the production environment using SCC4. There is a production client existing already. When I create a new client, the error msg "A production client already exists in the system" shown. Can I create two production clients in the same instance?

Yes you can have multiple production clients. Operation with several clients in one system is described in Note 31557 "The multi-client concept of R/3".

When you get the yellow warning "A production client already exists in the system" you just press [ ENTER ] to accept you know what you are doing and the warning will be bypassed!

Hi, I am a new comer to SAP and my company is implementing SAP ECC6 right now.

Actually I have the same question with this

My company consists of two factories for example say it Co A and Co B

We already go live successful for Co A and now we are working for Co B now

I have plan to create two production clients too, right now Co A use 300 as production client and may I use 310 as Co B's production client? My SAP consultants and also few BASIS friends said that if we only able to have one client role as production client and it will affect for several transaction especially for FICO modules because some of process will need client role as production role if not few process will not valid, is it right?

And what impacts in future if I use 300 and 310 as production functionally, is there any risks?

And is it possible if I separate too for Development (110 only for Co A and 120 only for Co B) and QA (200 only for Co A and 210 only for Co B), are there any effects on ABAP's programs or other customizing especially for any cross client objects?

Is this a recommended client strategy or no?

Many thanks before for your attention

You can create test or customizing and use as Productive client, this is possible.

Does SAP supports two production clients in one instance?

No....according to SAP there should be one Productive client in your Production system and they will treat that particular client has live data

This query is totally depends upon your/org risk factors

You can create it as a test client but it won't be supported as a production client by SAP.

The message "A production client already exists in the system" is a warning. You only need to press the 'Return' to save the setting.

If you ever have to perform point-in-time recovery, you need to consider both clients' data.
