Web dispatcher in SAP PI synchronous scenario

I have a query for web dispatcher.Can we use web dispatcher in SAP PI synchronous scenario.What configuration changes are required from PI side.

WebDispatcher is used for any Http/Https calls made to PI system , if any third party system wants to send message to PI system it has to come through web dispatcher . The configurtaion between Web Dispatcher and SAP PI is handled by Basis . You need not do any config change in PI.

Thank you for answer,But in my case we are trying to call external server from PI. So can we use web dispatcher in outbound calls from PI.

In that case do we need to use web dispatcher URL in receiver communication channel target URL.
