Help for better approach for SP Upgrade for SOLMAN system to SP14.

Hello All,

Can someone please provide some guidance on which of the mentioned steps is better for upgrading our SOLMAN DEV system to SP14. Currently we have SOLMAN 7.1 SP13. Our SOLMAN Prod is already upgraded to SP14.

Is it using System Refresh using Backup/Restore from SM Prod to SM Dev?

Else

Upgrading the SP level to SP14 using SUM.

In a brief, below are the questions, the answers for which will be very beneficial and helpful.

a.) Please guide as to which one of the above will be a better option, in terms of Business downtime, Post Activities, Manual Efforts, and Post-Activity issues. Please note, SP14 is already done for our SOLMAN Prod system [ PS: I know this is going the other way round 😉 ], and now we are planning to upgrade our SOLMAN Dev SMD to SP14.

b.) After the upgrade, all the DEV and QAS systems of our landscape will be removed from our SM Prod system, and connected to SM Dev system. If we proceed using System Refresh, do we have to again perform System Preparation and Basic Configuration in SMD?

c.) I am considering that Managed System Config for all the new systems is needed, will the templates created for Technical Monitoring in SMP system, be available in SMD after the refresh.

If there are any other points which needs to be taken care, please feel free to jot them down.

Appreciate the response.

Regards,

Soumyojit

Hello Soumyojit,

If I were you I would update SP13 to SP14 directly. Because there are lot's of customising or integration in solution manager system. And If you have patch xml for prod system, it could be perfect for you.
