Hi,
Could anyone tell me what are the effects of flagging a material for deletion. I created a material and flagged it for deletion. I see that even after that, I am able to create sales order, billing document and post it to accounting. Is there ayway I can delete a material completely so that I wont be able to use the material in any transactions.
Thanks,
Aparna
Hi,
Though the material is marked for deletion it will allow to do further transaction except creation of new documents by using MM06.
To puit a control o this goto t.code OMCQ and set the message type M7-127 as E
Ie.,version -06, Application area - M7 , NO. - 127 -

Hello Aparna,
For deleting a material master completely from your system, you have to master data archiving in T.code SARA after marking the code for deletion in MM06.
Flag for deletion, the material master records to be archived in MM06.
Go to T.Code SARA
Give the object MM_MATNR
Click u2018Customizingu2019
Go to Archiving Object-Specific Customizing - Technical Settings.
Maintain the variant for Test Mode and Production mode, and save the entries.
Come Back to SARA basic screen.
Select u2018Writeu2019
Maintain a variant, start date and spool parameters and execute.

Also If the materials were in use. you had orders and stock, then you have to archive all those depending data first. Material master archiving is the very last step in an archiving cycle.
