Performance of Standard Lots heuristic

My company is running the Heuristic SAP_PP_002 which calls function module /SAPAPO/HEU_PLAN_STANDARDLOTS. Running this across 400 materials for one year in one plant is taking around 5 hours time in the background. Can you let me know if in your experience this is an expected performance or is taking too much? Any pointers to a performance improvement would be appreciated.

'Planning of standard lots' (SAP_PP_002), have a reuse mode.This specifies whether an order which is within a reuse interval and meets other criteria, is reused or deleted and replaced with a new order.Reuse modes can be reused in the planning file (product-related) and defined in the heuristic settings

If there is no any planning file entry for a location product, the system uses the reuse mode from the heuristic for the planning run.Location products without a planning file entry are only planned if the indicator 'With Planning File Entry' is not set in addition to the other selection criteria for the processing step of the production planning run.However, in general, only products with a planning file entry should be planned.For this purpose, set the indicator 'With Planning File Entry' in the selection criteria for performance improvement.
