Table MCHB and MCHBH

I thought I completely understood the relationship between MCHB and MCHBH. But then this...

Referring to the attachment: Activity was performed in period 4 (see MB51). When activity was performed in period 9 (See MCHB where LFMON=9), why wasn't an MCHBH record inserted with LFMON=4? There should have been a period 4 record in MCHB when those movements were performed in April.

We have a custom "snapshot in time" program. If the user chooses period 6, their report shows qty=0 (It finds the most recent MCHBH without going past mchbh.png6, in this case period 3). But in fact, it should report 27,492.

Thanks

Ok, so I understand why there's not an entry for period 4.

When the movement was done in 4, SAP stored a history record for prior period 3 (Qts=0). Then there was no activity again until period 8, at which time SAP stored the period 7 record, and so on.

I found some documentation that reads: If for a previous period n, no entry exists in the history table, then the values of this period correspond to the values of the period n+1.

But that only works for the immediately prior period. Again referring to the attachment, if the user requests snapshot data for periods 4, 5 or 6, you'd have to retrieve period 7 from the database. That's not n+1.
