Dear All

My client requirement is that a cycle is sold but in a dismantled way. And they change the parts of cycle frequently.suppose in one particular model , seat A is ont used but seat B is used. How this communication from sales can flow to production.

Hi!,

If the No. of interchangeable parts are less then you can define them as alternative materials in BOM and while actual collection of parts for dispatch you can issue the required one. Here you can use the MTS strategy but the information from sales will have to be passed on via e-mail or some other way like using SAP Business workplace.

Or you can use variant configuration with strategy "52" which is an MTS strategy. Here you can procure the BOM components in advance and the final assembly will take place only after arrival of sales order.

Hi!,

If the permutation combination of various BOM component does not result in so many variants then you can use planning with planning material strategy where planning material has non variant parts in it's BOM while variant materials have all the required parts. Procurement of non variant parts can be done in advance on the basis of forecast by putting PIRs for planning material and doing MRP. Here system creates a nonconvertible planned order (Order type "VP") for planning material and normal PRS or planned orders for non variant parts. Now if sales person creates an sales order for a particular variant (say cycle with black seat) then on MRP system converts the planned order of planning material to that of variant material and which can be converted to prod order with all the required parts as BOM.

Can it be possible without variant config. . And the client wants the Pick list from SAP about the deatils of all cycle components with quantity based on sales despatch. How can we get the pick list based on sales dispatch.

Hi!,

The strategy I have suggested in the recent post (I. E. 63) does not involve variant configuration. Regarding the pick list, I think there is no standard procedure available for your requirement so you will have to get it customized with the help of an developer. Please ask him to take the pick quantity and dispatched material from the LIPS and LIKP tables (corresponding to outbound delivery number) and pass the material to MAST table, get the BOM Number(STLNR) pass that to STKO and STPO tables and get the BOM base quantity, components and component quantities and get the proportional list for the dispatched quantity fetched earlier.

Hi!,

No here the various material variant will have the fixed BOM (Say requt has come for a predefined material Cycle-1 which has RIM, TUBE, Tyre, Black seat as BOM component while your planning mateial is cycle which has RIM, Tyre, Tube as BOM component. Say seat comes in three colors, blue, black and Red so you will have to define three different material as cycle-1, cycle-2 and cycle-3 with Black seat, red seat and blue seat as one of the BOM componenet respectively alongwith other common items like Rim, tyre and tube.

Please go through the SAP help for the strategy 63 to have more clarity.

I think we need to go for variant configuration which is the best way out to create link between the sales and production.

How can we upload object dependency in mass for the BOM items.?

Hi!,

Use Make to order strategy(SAy 20) with order BOM concept(CS61) and carry oou sales order based MRP (MD50).

I think this will solve your problem.

But they want to use make to stock . How Can it be possible in MTS scenario. Also they want pick list to be generated by the system that which cycle parts they need to load in the truck.

Hi

Why donot you use assembly order in this case? let the cycle parts be manufactured as semi finished MTS. and when the finihsed product is concerned let the sales generate a orderBOM of items needed with different requirements.

Can u throw some light on assembly orders and I think sales has to generate order BOM manually for each sales order or there is some other way out to create order BOm fastly

Hi!,

For assembly processing with production orders, the finished product must have a valid bill of material. But in your case the BOM may change while placing the order so I probably assembly order process is not usable here.
