Login Failed: Device id or Physical id invalid

Hi together,

I have used two different devices with the same user to login with DOE (PDA and NWDS Simulator).

Now this message appear "Login Failed: Device id or Physical id invalid" when I try to synchronize my PDA with DOE.

How I can resolve this problem now?

Hello Ramanath,

my Device ist enabled und registered. My problem occours after device reinitialisation im Web Administrator Portal.

What can I do to solve my problem?

Hi ,

Device Re-initialization is done when the physical device is either corrupted or no longer in use.

Here the link between device id and physical id will be broken and the logical device on the DOE will be in initial state.

In this scenario, the synchronization between the older physical device and the logical device would not work. (And this is intended behavior)

Now if you want to work with the logical device on DOE, you will have to install a new physical device (mobile client installation) and synchronize with the DOE. This device will get registered with the logical device on DOE (if registration criteria is met) and then synchronization would happen successfully.

Hello Vaidehi,

my device is enabled in DOE. I get this message when I try to synchronize my mobile PDA (not simulator) with DOE.

The assumptions:

1) the logical device on the DOE that you are registering to is ENABLED and in INITIAL or PENDING REGISTRATION state?

2) the mobile installation on your PDA is fresh, not already registered to a previous instance of a logical device?

In my experience the possible reasons of getting that error

1) no available logical device on DOE to register your PDA device - there needs to be a logical device that is Enabled and in INITIAL state

2) the Mobile PDA has already registered to a logical device and you are trying to synchronize to a logical device that does not exist anymore on DOE with that specific ID

I am trying to move to Create Setup Package and use that for installing onto PDA. Still working out the kinks, but it seems better.

Hello Waldemar,

This error will occur when the combination of the "Device Id" and "Physical Id" is not correct.

Surely, the "Registration" process has happened successfully for this device. Else the error would be something like,

"Error Code 22: Device Registration Failed".

Now there can be 2 scenarios in which this error can occur.

1. After registration of the device, the logical device on the middleware is reinitialised. Due to which the link between the device id and the physical id is broken.

2. The physical id on the PDA device got corrupted due to which the invalid id is being sent during login.

Kindly confirm whether first case is applicable in your scenario. Else let me know the steps you have folllowed before you get this error.

Can you please check the following file in the MI\settings folder of your PDA

core.properties

If this file contains a property by the name 'com.sap.tc.mobile.cfs.conf.spi.deviceid' with some value assigned to it, that means this device is already registered. Pick this deviceid and search for it on the DOE, you will find the device against which this client is already registered.

Now the point is, if the above case stands true, then you cannot use this client and will have to install a new one. Can you also tell me how did you install the client on your PDA?

one more question .... how did you install the client on the PDA? Do you get this message when you try to sync from the PDA client or the simulator's client?

As seen from the error message, the device registration is failing

Please make sure there is a device with status 'enabled' available on the DOE.
