Change Description of Material Group

Hi Experts!

I need to change the description of material group 2 and material group 3. How can i do this? I go to spro>logistic general>material group but it seems like not what i want. what is material group 2 and 3? Under material group 2 there are few group code and every code got its own description. i need to change this description.Please tell me step by step.

I still can't find where is the 2nd description. description 1 is in english and description 2 should be in chinese. is there anything we have to click like when we do set up for value of characteristic in CT04, if we have more than one langguages to be set up, on the CT04, we have to click on extra>change language, then we can set up description of value for the other language. Anyone please advise.

HI,

I got it enter ur description in english & save. Then select the description u have entered, then at the top click on GOTO in that

select translation .The language options will be displayed,There select chinese and enter the chinese description & save. I

am not able do in my system because i do not have the language in my system.If it is not working log with chinese language & try.

Hi,

You can change the descriptions of material group 2,3 in spro in below given path

SPRO>Logistics general>material master>Setting for key fields>Data rele for sales & distribution>Define materail group

create request and import to production server.

The node spro>logistic general>settings for key fields>data relevant to sales and distribution>define material groups is correct. this is what i want. so from here i choose 'material group 2'. When i go in, there are 2 columns, material group 2(which list out all the group code under material group 2) and description. However, according to my user's template, she wants me to change the description 1 and description 2 for the group codes under material group 2. I cannot find where is description 2 field in here. i can only find description 1 field which is 'description' field. please advise.

HI,

Check the Configuartion tab available at the top corner.

So in my system two options are available once again the check the screen settings.

HI,

For that u goto OMSF.This node has nothing to do with that material grp.U are confusing yourself.

The node i had given previously is not being used in R3.

HI,

Select the descrition which u want to change.Delete the line & sava.

Thenclick on mew entries enter the matl grp & description & save.

in that u can change the description

Hi Crystal,

Goto SPRO IMG--> Logistic General --> MAterial Master --> Settings for key field --> Data Relevant for sales and distribution -->Define material groups.

Pop-up dialog box will appear, showing Material Group1/2/3/4.

Select the appropriate Material group and double click on it.

you will find the code and description listed under that material group node. you will be able to change the Description here.

In this IMG activity, you define material groups that you can use on t

Sales screen when maintaining a material master record.

Since these material groups are not used in the standard SAP R/3 Syste

you can use them as required, for example, for analyses.

Note

These material groups have nothing to do with the material group used

pricing.

hi..

material group is a group of material with the similar characteristics...

u can give any code which is alphanumeric according to ur convenience...

description 1 will be the normal description, where as description 2 is an additional description if u want to specify...

u can change the descriptions any time u want
