WAD: Avoid refresh before Open Variable Dialog appears

Hi everybody,

I have a problem with the refresh of a BW 7.0 web template. On this web template we call the variable dialog by a button using the OPEN_VARIABLE_DIALOG_COMMAND. Unfortunately the web template always refreshes, before the dialog comes up. If the template contains a large input query, this takes quite a long time.

The same problem exists, when executing a planning function, which requires additional data entry by variables.

Is there a possibility to avoid this refresh before the variable dialog appears?

Thanks for any help, advices and comments,

Sebastian

    Sebastian,

if I understand your problem correctly, all that is needed is to check on 'Display Variable' within the 'Behaviour' section of the Web Template Properties within the Web Application Designer. Then the variable screen is always displayed when the web template is first opened.

      Hi Arun,

we use the template in context of Integrated planning. So, we don't want to call or refresh the web template, but just call a planning function, which needs a user input by variable dialog.

However, everytime the user clicks the button, the web template gets refreshed instead of just displaying the variable dialog and perform the refresh afterwards.

I know, this is standard behaviour of the tool, but it lasts always 4-6 seconds, which is annoying for the end users, espacially if large queries are included into the template.

Any ideas or do we have to accept that delay?

May be filtering whithin filter pane will not refresh te query before ?

    Regards.
