Issue in SAP MII migration tool - From 11.5 to 15.0

Hello,

We are having trouble to migrate SAP MII projects from 11.5 to 15.0.

• The scenario - We have running SAP MII migration tool on 3rd party server ( neither on source 11.5 server nor on 15.0 destination server )
• We have also copied directories Lighthammer & wwwroot to this third party machine
• We did migration check before starting migration. We do not have any major issues
• We were getting similar error as mention in https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/3737337 . So we have already copied xercesImpl.jar;xalan.jar jars to migration folder. ( we found three and four versions of xalan and xercesImpl respectively. I tried random combination of any two to be placed in migration folder. ( anybody has any suggestions on which version to select)

However we still get an error as below .

Please help , if you have any suggestions.

If it is happening for all of your files my guess would be that it might be a security issue with the MII user configured in the migration tool. So instead of getting an xml response back from the catalog service you are getting the Netweaver login page and that is causing the parsing issue on the migration tool side. I have seen issues in a slightly different context where some of the crazy characters they put in passwords these days caused some issue using the service depending on the tool. Check the logs on the MII side for any clues and maybe try Wireshark or something similar to see whats actually going back and forth on the network.

Thanks for answer.

We are able to migrate HTML files. I.e. web tab objects..

Issue comes only with query and transactions.

Hi Ajinkya,

As I recall, there is a fairly involved migration process to go from 11.5 to 12.1 which involved moving file locations and possibly doing some renaming. It is explained in the Migration checklist on page 15 in

It would be recommended to read the entire document for it also has other recommendations of which you may be unaware.

I would also spend some time browsing through the MII wiki,

which contains a wide variety of potentially helpful content for older versions of MII (xMII).

The change from 11.5 to 12.0 was fairly straightforward, but from 12.1 on, the application sits on top of NetWeaver which involved some rather more substantial changes.
