OSTC and memory

We have 2,700 records in the OSTC table. We used to have over 5,000. With so many records we are seeing our client memory usage double from 200MB to 400MB at add-on start up. Is this normal? Can this be decreased in any way?

Decreasing the number of OSTC records has lowered our client memory usage.
