failed to create the Crystal Databse Connector

I am using CR XI R2 as stand alone. I am trying (for the first time) to add a dynamic parameter. Everything looks good in development, but as soon as I run it I get this:

Prompting failed with the following error message: 'List of Values failure: fail to get values. Cause of error: Error in File Unknown.rpt: Failed to Create the Crystal database connector.'

I am connectiong to the database with ODBC.

Any ideas?

let me know if you need more info.

Thanks

We use a Crystal 11 viewer built by Global Shop Solutions - our ERP system. It is a PC based viewer-it runs with the ERP application which is client/server based. However, I am running the report directly from my machine and not through the viewer - everyone else uses the viewer, the report doesn't work either way.

The report's connection to the database is ODBC(RDO).

As far as the SDK, we are fairly simple around here. I am running Crystal Professional v.11 R2 on Windows XP. I develop my reports in the Crystal 11 R2 application and run them from the same application or I run them from the Global Shop viewer.

Our database is Pervasive.

Let me now if you need more info.

Hi,

OK, not sure what we can do about your ERP system at this point but first we need to make this work in CR designer, if it doesn't work there it won't work in your app either.

So I'll move this back to the Database connection forum.

Next step is for you to download and install the latest CR XI R2 patches.

CLick on the Businessobjects Tab above, then Downloads and filter on Crystal Reports and Release 2 and then Service Packs.

Here's the quick link: http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm

There have been a few issues reported with Pervasive ODBC drivers. May be the cause.

Thanks again

Sorry for the delay, I was pulled off that job temporarily. I am using the full professional version of Crystal 11. However, we are not using anything else like enterprise. I put the report in a shared folder, and those that need to run it, do so from their computers with a viewer. I have read that Crystal 11 allows dynamic parameters and we upgraded for this functionality. Do we need something else to use them and if so, what? I have been extremely dead-ended on this in various forums and thought that upgrading to v.11 R2 was the answer - it apparently wasn't. Please help.

Hello,

Can you tell us which SDK and viewer you are using? What viewer are you using? Is this a windows or WEB application? If youa re using the RDC ( craxdrt.dll ) to process the report then that old technology is not aware of Dynamic Parameters so that may the issue also.

I'm moving this to the legacy forums until we get clarity.

Thank you

Don

Hello,

It appears you may be doing this in an application using one of our SDk's so I've moved this to the .NET SDK forum. It's the only engine that allows this, old RDC and other report engines do not know of LOV's.

First thing to test is try to create one in CR Designer first and then run the report and allow it to prompt for the values.

Next is to add a lot more info on which SDK you are using and what version of Cr are you using. A code snippet of how you are setting the parameter values may help also.

Thanks
