SAP ECC and Sol Mgr Installation

Former Member

Hi Gurus,

I have SAP CD/DVDs for Sol Mgr (Sol Mgr 4.0 SR3) and ECC ( ERP 2005, SR2). I want to install both of them.

1. So can you please let me know is it mandatory to install both Sol Mgr and ECC with same combination of System ID and Central Instance? If not, can we use different central instance numbers for them.

2. After I install Sol Mgr, what should I do to activate with SAP. I mean how can I get the key from SAP and activate it.

3. ECC and Sol Mgr must be of same release? or can be different also?

Please let me know the procedure ( I have idea of how to install but other issues I dont know) to install both these.

Regards,

B

If you want to install ECC then it is mandatory to install solman as from there you will generate solman key.

As far as SID's are concerned you should have different SID for both of them, you can take same instnace number if systems are on different host. But if both system are on same host then you should take different instance numbers.

You can go to transaction SMSY to generate solman key.

ECC and solman can be of different release.

You can find installation guides on ERP- https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/erp-inst

Solman- https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000065932

Sunny Pahuja, Ravi Kumar, Pandu,

Correction to my initial post - I have both ECC and Sol Mgr 4.0 of SR2. Initally I mentioned it wrong.

Thanks to all three of you. Points assigned to all.

1. My doubt was can I use different Central Instance Number/ System number and System ID for Sol Mgr and ECC. You mentioned I can use same system ID but what about system number. Please let me know if the statement is true or false -> the solution manager key generated for ECC from Sol Mgr 4.0 will be only valid if both sol mgr and ecc have same - system id, central instance name and central instance number.

2. I am having Sol Mgr 4.0 SR2 and ERP 2005 SR2. After I install Sol Mgr, I need to activate the license or get the license from SAP. We already purchased the software from SAP. But I dont know how I should activate it. I dont have any license keys or anything. I came to know that I need to send mail or contact SAP. Can someone let me know what should I do.

3. I am installing Sol Mgr 4.0 in one system and ECC in one system. Both of them are on separate systems. Then if I goto SMSY tcode in Sol Mgr Syste. Will it recognise the ECC which is installed in another system. Or Do I need to do any connection settings.

4. First I need to activate the Sol Mgr with SAP and generate the Solution Manager Key for ECC or I can generate the Solution manager Key before activating Sol Mgr 4.0

Hi,

1st thing dont worry abt License now. Bcoz as soon u install any SAP software, it will come with 30 days Temp Lic.

1st go for installing SolMan.

The only reason y we are asking to for for installing sol-man 1st is, while install in ECC, at last it will ask for SolMan key.

At that time u need to generate the sol-man Key from ur Solution manager system (By using the steps told in above posts)and u need to continue with installation.

Is true or false -> the solution manager key generated for ECC from Sol Mgr 4.0 will be only valid if both sol mgr and ecc have same - system id, central instance name and central instance number.

False. there is no such relation of SolMan with other systems. Use the SID u wish to have(like SMR for solman). As ur telling both SolMan nd Ecc are on diff systems, you can take same instance number.

coming to ur 3rd question, u need not have to connect ur ECC and solman for getting SolMan key.

coming to 4th ques... No need to get Activated from SAP for generating SolMan key . Any ways u can install permanent lic, as soon u install.

At last Requesting a New SAP License Key

1. Log on to the SAP Marketplace using an OSS ID with Administration rights u2013 http:
service.sap.com\licensekey.

2. In the navigator tree on the right-hand side of the License Keys screen, click on mySAP Business Suite.

3. On the License keys for mySAP Business Suite screen, click on the Request license key hyperlink.

4. On the License key: Request screen, click the correct Installation hyperlink the mySAP Business Suite component.

5. On the License key request: System overview screen, click the New system button.

6. On the License key: Request for a new system screen, fill in the required information in the System section. In the License request section, fill in the Hardware key box right above the Save New Item button. After you have supplied the hardware key, click the Save New Item button. The license key request will be shifted up to the first line of the License request list. Click on the □ to the left of the license request to place a u221A in the box. Now you are finally ready to click the Send Request button.

take a look @ ink

I have SAP CD/DVDs for Sol Mgr (Sol Mgr 4.0 SR3) and ECC ( ERP 2005, SR2). I want to install both of them.

Ans) Now we are calling SOL Mgr 4.0 as SOL Mgr 7.0 Netweaver Component.

1. So can you please let me know is it mandatory to install both Sol Mgr and ECC with same combination of System ID and Central Instance? If not, can we use different central instance numbers for them.

Ans) First we must install SOL Mgr 7.0 then we will generate SOLUTION MANAGER Key by using SOL Mgr 7.0, Transaction:SMSY by using this t-code we will generate

I) Host Name of Application Server

II) SAP <SID>

III) SAP Instance Number

2. After I install Sol Mgr, what should I do to activate with SAP. I mean how can I get the key from SAP and activate it.

Ans) Use Transaction: SMSY then u can Activate for ERP 2005, SR2.

3. ECC and Sol Mgr must be of same release? or can be different also?

Ans) Can be different

Please let me know the procedure ( I have idea of how to install but other issues I dont know) to install both these.

Ans) Using this procedure you can install your servers.
