Dear Gurus,
Please suggest a solution for the following scenario:
A certain Finished Goods (FG) material in the plant which has irregular consumption pattern is not accounted for regular demand during the forecast, this particular FG only gets manufactured when there is a customer requirement, but I donot want to treat it as MTO, I want a demand to be generated when there is a sale order for this FG and the subsequent process order should have the sale order reference number.
when the process order is executed I want the FG to sit as unrestricted Warehouse stock and not as customer stock.... this means that if I only deliver partial qty against a sale order the remaining available stock can be automatically allocated to the next sale order that arrives or could be used for any other purpose without any restriction.....
So in brief what I am looking for is a MTS strategy for the FG that can blow the demand based on sale order during MRP run and also the subsequent process order should carry sales order refernce number.
Regards
Sri.
Hi
I can suggest to you planning strategy 40, this will plan for PIR and sales order. But the sales order will consume the warehouse stock. It will not carry the sales order number as reference.
Otherwise you can group the planning strategy 10 and 20 and create one strategy group. Put planning strategy 10 as Main Strategy and 20 as secondary strategy.
While creating the sales order maintain requirement type as KE , this will trigger planning strategy 20 from the strategy group.
If you follow this way you will have sales order refernce number for your production order.
Thanks

Hello Murali,
But in that case what happens to the stock that was made against the sale order, it will be restricted against the sale order, right?? I want the stock to go and sit in unrestricted use even if the demand came from sale order. I want the sale order just to act as a demand element, i do not want the sale order to have any control over the stock. I can also live with the fact that the process order is not carrying sale order refrence number but I donot want the stock to sit restricted against customer stock.

Hi
you can use following movement types to change the one sales order stock to other sales order stock or unrestricted stock and vice versa
Use MB1B t.code.
411E Transfer posting sales order to own
412E Transfer posting sales order to own - reversal
413E Transfer posting sales order to sales order
414E Transfer posting sales order to sales order - reversal
Thanks

Hello Murali,
I appreciate that we can do transfer posting from one stock type to other, but we failed doing that... cos it was having financial implications and it is hard to control cos of the magnitude of FG's that we have and its hard to keep track, we would rather have the planning strategy take care of it...Is there no requirement type that allows us to have demand based on sale order but the stock will still lie as unrestricted warehouse stock.

Hi
Use 60 Strategy which will keep the MTO stock in the unrestrited use. I faced the similar problem and solved thr 60

Hi Sri,
Pl. try to use strategy - 52 for the FG.
You will be able to achieve the following things -
1. You can enter PIR for the FG to do component planning via MRP
2. Planned Orders for the FG will be created but it would not allow you to convert to production order till a sales order is created in the system
3. Also the stock from Production Order GR will be in Unrestricted category and not sales order stock.
4. You will be able to deliver this stock to any sales order
5. You wont be able to directly link the production order to sales order number but you may use some text field to populate the sales order for reference.
Hope this may help you.
Regards,
Amit
