Common DB problem

HELP:

While updating a different Instance for testing it seems the SBO Common from the live system must have gotten updated as well...now when trying to get into SAP from the server locally it states Stop- cannot connect to DB in server as the Common DB has been updated, please see your systems administrator

The ver is 2005A SP01 p22, is there an easy way to put the Common DB back to p22 without causing any issues?

The clients believe it or not are working perfectly fine, its just the local server that cannot be accessed.

Do I need to re-install the server and client to the local server?

Can I do this with the clients still working or do they need to be logged off?

Will this affect anything at by re-installing that patch without un-installing the clients?

Based on your first posting, I do believe you need log a support ticket instead of trying anything that may cause disaster.

Yes but I think I may have mis stated my first issue by saying the SBO common DB was upgraded. When I validated the version in the tables of the DB's...they all match. All are at 6.80.319

The reading the note I found, it is clear that my client install is at a higher version than what it should be. Why I beleive it should be okay to reinstall the client is, the upgrade that was done in the server install you get to specify the Instance...not in the client install so I think the client install is the main problem and why the DB for the live system is working fine because the server install which hits the Common DB was not touched.

If reinstall Client could solve your problem, that would be no harm to system at all. You may go ahead to install old Client. Hope the clean reinstall is possible.

I found more information which may help but I really need to clarify this with someone who may know SQL (I am not comfortable with it yet)

I found Note 562265 which is my exact error. The issue I see is that the SAP application version is higher than the SBO Common DB version.

If I uninstall the client and reinstall the correct version, will it allow me to get access into the DB's again? I want to be sure I will not cause any other issues by doing so. All version in the CINF, SINF and OBserverdll files do match.

I think its just my Client install that is messed up.

Thanks for anyones help!

Do you mean you are using a newer version Client to access old DB?

Just to clarify, I want the version of the SBO Common to stay as it is....it is at 6.80.319 which is correct.

I am hoping its as simple as fixing the client install on the server

Thanks!

Yes I believe a newer client install was loaded and trying to access the older version.

The case you presented is scary. I don't know what suggestion could be more appropriate. My advice: log a support ticket immediately. Meanwhile take a solid backup ASAP. Nothing should be done when clients is still working. That is a common knowledge. Before the problem get worse, try to get professional help.

Thanks,
