Hi all,

I want to know where exactly the custom features (Z features created in PE03) and the standard features (ABKRS, NUMKR) are used?

Instead of writing the structure and decision values in program, why it is created in PE03 and used in programs?

Hi,

ABKRS feature is used to default payroll area in infotype 1.

Procedure

The return value of the feature is a payroll area from table T549A,

Payroll Areas. This can be overwritten and is reassigned and displayed

in a warning message when changes are made to the organizational

assignment.

Number Range NUMKR is used to determine what number series is to be selected, while hiring an employee in the system, to assign it as a Personnel Number to the employee being hired. Internal Personnel Number Assignment means, the system automatically populates the next free number in the number range defined. External number Assignment means that the person who is carrying out hiring action in PA40, assigns the personnel number to the new person being hired depending on the configuration in NUMKR. The feature NUMKR is maintained through T-code PE03. To maintain the Personnel Administration number ranges, go to T-code PA04. Here you can display and maintain the intervals. The path for the same is: IMG -> Personnel Management -> Personnel Administration -> Basic Settings -> Maintain number range intervals for personnel numbers.

Features is designed to be as a configurable interface through which HR consultants can build dicision logic without ABAP development.

Everytime we generate and activate a featrue, PE03 programme wil dynamically generate a piece of ABAP code for dicision logic. There is a registration table in system which stores the mapping between featrue name and dynamic generated ABAP code. The main programme of payroll driver searchs this table and call those dynamic generated code.

for setting defualt values for certain conditions while maintained the Data in the infotypes

say for EX:

ABKRS it is used to set the Pay roll Area

say for example one Emp group will have one pay roll area and anotehr employee grp will have anothe pay rol area in that scenaro

we can differenitate the PY areas fo the meployee based on the features
