Define depreciation areas for asset classes

Why is the field for depreciation key greyed out when I go in "Define depreciation areas for asset classes" transaction OAYZ, though I activated the depreciation area by removing the check mark, still the depreciation key field is greyed out. I need to give a depreciation key in that field.

check your user settings or the field status

Checked it, the same field status is aasigned to the other asset classes but the depreciation key is open field not greyed out for other asset classes. Where else do i need to check?

Are you sure its not an authorization issue for the asset class in question? Your basis/security people can turn on a trace right before you enter that area which is greyed out.
