Dear Experts,

While making LDS for importing GL Master from BI to BCS, I have created a LDS-

With

Data Type -Items

Characterristics -GL Accounts

After saving of this LDS, while creating Method

Data Stream Data collection Procedure Method

Total Records Load from Data Stream ( NO LDS for Master upload)

With above setting I am not able to see Mthod Name in Creation of method.

May any one suggest the reason.

Thanks

Rakesh

For master data the LDS is executed directly in the BCS workbench (UCWB) and there is no need to assign the LDS to a Data Collection method or task.

Mr. Dan,

Thanks..!!

But i must tell you my requirement.

While creating LDS for GL Transactional Data, I had to create GL Account in Master data (in Items) Manually for selection.

1) Is it necessary to create GL account in BCS manually?

a) If no, What mechanism can be used to get GL Account Item in BCS for selection

2) What is the mechanaism is used if GL Transactional Data is braught from 2 different Platform like R/3 and Legacy?

(In context to when 2 GL of same nature but having different account number, how both can be clubbed together in BCS?)

Thanks

1. No, master data may also be created via flexible upload or LDS in the BCS workbench.

2. In the case where there are different data sources one option is to have two methods assigned to the data collection method and corresponding task. Another is to have different data collection methods and at the task level assign method by cons unit. Any, yet another is to have different tasks/methods for each with method assigned by cons unit and where not relevant indicate in the task.

In context to your suggestion

"1. No, master data may also be created via flexible upload or LDS in the BCS workbench."

My 1st post of the current issue was related to LDS in BCS work bench i.e.

In After creating LDS method for GL master with following 2 specification

Data Type -Items

Characterristics -GL Accounts

When I try to create respective Method I am not able to see the LDS method created. i.e.

Data Stream--

Data collection--

Procedure Method

Total Records----

Load from Data Stream -

( NO LDS for Master upload)

With above setting I am not able to see Mthod Name in Creation of method.

"2. In the case where there are different data sources one option is to have two methods assigned to the data collection method and corresponding task. Another is to have different data collection methods and at the task level assign method by cons unit. Any, yet another is to have different tasks/methods for each with method assigned by cons unit and where not relevant indicate in the task."

With the above suggestion, however if Both the GL account (of same nature butwith different Account Number like 100001 and 65555) gets pushed in BCS , what is the mechansim in BCS to clubb them.?

Thanks

1. There is no need for a data collection method for master data. Simply right-click on the LDS method and choose execute. Once results are provided, save them. A data collection method is for collecting reported data or documents within the BCS monitor and not applicable to master data.

2. BCS will not accept data for master data that is not created in BCS. It is therefore important to have the master data created in BCS prior to collection of reported data or documents. The master data is created in the BCS workbench via manual entry, flexible upload or LDS.
