Uom change

Dear All,

i am trying to change the unit of measure for a particular material. there is no stock exists in any plant and storgae location and no outstanding sales or POs are there in the system. still i am not able to change the Uom due to the follwoing error message.

Stocks already exist at plant level.

Serial number profiles have already been assigned. The new base unit

of measure must therefore be dimensionless (that is, discrete).

Hi,

According to me i guess once you created the material, system will not allowyou to change UOM.There is an option in Material Maaster where you can maintain alt UOM as conversion factor in Basic data tab.

Also see my reply below for conversion factor settings,

Say for Ex if u create base unit of measure as Nou2019s , all the goods movement and stock will displayed in same BUM only.

To Issue with different unit of measure like KG, keep following settings

Cerate alternate base unit measure as KG and conversion factor should be assigned (1Kg = 5 Nou2019s) at material Master.

Assign the KG as issue Unit at work scheduling or General/plant date view of material master for the component.

Select KG as component unit of measure for the component at Header material BOM

This is the way u can plan.

Hi

This is not error message. System is reporting the reasons for which it can not change the base unit of measure

As per the report

1) There is stock exists in plant 2077 in Stor loc 0001 - Pl verify it in MMBE

2) As serial no profile is assigned to the material master you can not change the UOM to MT, KG or any other continuous unit. System will accept the units like EA, NO,PC (Discrete units Only)
