Hi MDM Expert,
My objective is to load all Lookup Tables to Material Master MDM repository.
Countries look up table correspondes to T005T table in ECC system. Below I am writing steps to load Countries lookup table to MDM repository ( Since we are not using XI so I think this can be one way to load Lookup tables to MDM repository). Please correct me If I am wrong.
1. Using TRAN se16 we will extract T005T table data in ECC system in excel file.
2. In MDM repository, Countries look up table have two fields Name and ISO Alpha Code. When I extract data from T005T table, I will choose only two column values LAND1 and LANDX, which I think corresponds to ISO Alpha code and Name field for Look Up table Countries.
4. Last step, I will import extracted excel file to MDM repository using Import Manager (Do I need to create map for this? or Can I used predefined map shipped with Business Content).
Can we load all lookup table using above method?
Thanks,
Bhupesh
Hi Bhupesh,
You can follow any way you want if you are getting the desired result but since SAP has already provided this info then why to make it tedious. Follow the link posted before and instead of using the step Maintain Ports and Check Tables use Upload Ports and Check-Tables which will automatically create the ports and the necessary tables from the reference file.

Hi Bhupesh,
Data in MDM can be classified into two
1. Lookup Data
2. Main Table Data
We have transaction MDMGX to extract lookup data from ECC which doesn't need XI. Since you have Business Content, you can find one the text file with name MDMGX_<somenumber>_Material.txt. Just upload it and define the parameters for FTP.
Refer the below link for more details.

Hi Bupesh
what you are doing is also correct. But each time a new entry is added or existing record in lookup table is changed in ECC the data in MDM will not reflect the changes.
Using MDMGX is more standard way of refreshing the lookup tables in MDM where we can also schedule a batch job for the extraction of the country table in this example and updating MDM.
The whole process can be automated and saves a lot of efforts.
Please note MDMGX is also without using XI middleware.

Hi Ravi / Jitesh,
Thanks for your help. I have done extracting part. *.xsd and XML file (lookup table) is created.
I did not understand Execute Generation and Extraction. Generate XSD steps created xsd file and Start Extraction created xml file which is look up. Where we need these two files?
Now, how can I load both xsd and xml file to MDM repository?
Thanks,
Bhupesh
Hi Bupesh
XSD file you need to save in MDM console under shema table.
For the xml file once extraction is complete it should be directly posted to the ready folder of the inbound port from ECC.
I hope you have done correct setting and configurations for defining the MDM repository and ports. Also they are FTP enabled.
For details please check this configuration guide for MDMGX:
