CRM-BI Integration

Hi,

I am trying to develop the ETL for CRM-BI process, I had two questions before I got started,

1) How does data from CRM get tranfered from CRM to BI. I know data from R/3 to BI gets transferred through IDOC's, does the same happen from CRM to BI too.

2) How do delta's work in CRM. For example in R/3 ( Logistics) we have Direct, Queued or V3 update, do we have the same options in CRM too? I specifically need to know how it works in opportunities, activities & account planning areas.

Thanks

Rashmi.

Data from SAP SRM gets transferred to SAP BW via the same meachnism as R3/ECC data does. This is the case for all SAP applications.

CRM deltas work more like the R3/ECC FI extractor deltas in that there are no setup tables and/or delta queue jobs required. It's pretty much "plug and play" (activate and start using) and has the capabilities of creating User Exits in CMOD on CRM, just like R3/ECC. This too is the case for most SAP applications (there are some idiosyncrasies in Solution Manager).

You also have the additional transfer mechanism of bDocs or Business docs fro CRM Systems... but I guess that is internal to the system you should still see it as iDocs I guess..
