Missing measures description

Hi

For reasions unknown I am missing a description on PERIODIC. The result is that EVDER() is returning null as a descirption in my reports.

What is the correct way of correting this. on BPC 5.1 sp 9 (currently planning an upgrade to version 7)

Solved by upgrading to SP10

Please refer to SAP note 1333015 - missing measure dimension description

The root cause was related to case sensitivity and is corrected in BPC 5.1 SP10 and 7.0M SP02.

As stated in the note - If you have AppSet with a previous BPC version, you should process time

type or account type dimension to show the description.

There are two tables tblFormula and tblYTDFormula. Try to verify in the both.

Have descriptions in both tblFormula and tblYTDFormula, but they are not the same for YTD.

In tblFormula the description is "Year to date" in tblYTDFormula the description is YTD

This is not a problem, only one is used depending by the application type you have (periodic or YTD). If you have the description into DB means that the problem sis comming from the measures files created into System FIles.

SO, please go to D:\BPC\Data\Webfolders\<your appset>\System Files and verify if the <application>, measures.dim contains the description. If the answer yes, please go on your client machine and delete the Outlooksoft folder from My documents and try again to login in your appset. If the answer is not, please delete the files <application>, measures.xml and <application>, measures.dim, save your application and login again with the client.

When you write save application, do you than mean modify application?

After deleting and modifing the application. The new measure files both xml and dim, contain no description for periodic.

It is interesting that how you lose your measure member description anyway.

In BPC 5.1, measure information is stored in tblFormula table of appset database. So, you should check it.

And to reflect your change in the table, you need to process time or account dimension to re-initialize measure dim file. They are stored in "System Files" folder of appset webfolders. You can also update measure dim and xml files in that folder. But if you do not update table information, it will be overwite at next time of measure dim file creation.

I have descirptions in the tblFormula for periodic. Have processed time and account, without any effect on the measure descirption for Periodic.
