Distribution Channel Determination in Opportunity

Hello Expert

We are creating opportunities in the system or converting from lead and as soon as system finds a sales unit and sales org (based upon employee added to the appropriate org model in C4C), system is automatically defaulting Distribution Channel as 01 - direct sales. Where do we make the setting in C4C tenant to default the distribution channel. I looked in Org model and didn't find it there. Also checked in Business Configuration and only found Distribution Channel addition standalone.

Is the system just finding the first distribution channel it finds and then defaulting it in opportunity?

Is there any option to change the default setting or remove direct sales from system ?

Hello Ashish,

Have you checked the employee record? You should be able to input the distribution channel in there for individual employees.

Highlight the employee, select edit and change the distribution settings under sales data:

You can also maintain the values for this drop down by navigating to fine tuning in implementation projects (search for distribution channel)

You may need to include all 'activities not in project' in the 'show' drop down.

Thanks for your quick response.

I have checked in employee data. There is no settings for distribution channel.

It is happening with all employee. if they are converting lead to opportunity or create new opportunity system automatically pick distribution channel = direct sales. Requirment is distribution channel in an opportunity should be blank or different value but should not be direct sales.

Is there any option to change the default setting or remove default distribution channel = direct sales from system ?

Hi

At the outset,make sure the question in the screenshot is reviewed and added in your scoping under the Lead management element

Then dont maintain the distribution channel in the following area

  1. Accounts Sales Area Data
  2. Employee Sales Data
  3. Assign Distribution channel rule inside the sale Org(This facet will be invisible by default)

Then, Make the distribution channel field to visible during the creation of Lead itself and check. So during the creation of lead,only sale org will be determined based the sale unit.So that while converting the lead to Opportunity,No distribution channel will be copied.

Thanks for quick support.

I have tried same as you suggested. To mark same question as reviewed in lead only. but still system picking distribution field as direct sales in lead itself.



Is there any option to change the default setting or remove default distribution channel = direct sales from system ?
