Creating template iView

Former Member

Hi Experts,

I have a requirement that for all iViews i am creating , iView property "initial state of navigational panel" should be set to "always closed" by default. For this purpose , can we create our own template iView in which above mentioned property is set to as required and all iViews i am creating , is using this iView as template not the SAP provided standard template iView?

regards,

Ajay

My suggeston is create a generic iview and set its property 'Initial Navigational Panel' to close.

Store all these generic iviews in any folder.

whenever there is a requirement of creating an iview, then duplicate those generic iviews and customize as per your requirement.

I am telling you the work around.

just create a folde something like iview templates

then create a iview and set all the properties that you want (which are generic)and save the iview in that template folder.

In future if you want same kind of iview then copy that iview from the template folder

into your another folder and do the rest of the changes.

Otherwise you need to get the each iview par file and modify the properties of it. rename it and again deploy the par file.

Create a iview template using that par file.

but this is complex process.

Create a iview of your requirement. once you set all the properties then make the property 'Object type ' as template

This will act as a template for your futire iviews.

This is better than creating from scratch.

check the below help link

Thanks Raghu ,

I have created a template iView and adjusted its properties as needed for my future iViews .

Now problem is , how will i make it template for any new iView i am creating. In my case , i am creating

BEx Web Application iView ( SAP Netweaver 7.0 format). I used this template for creating my own template

iView(as par discussion) by just assigning some random values to it and then changed all properties as needed

and made it template by changing object property.

but how will i get this template among the list of template iviews which we get while creating a new iView so that

i can use it as template for others.

please ignore last reply , I got it in the list after refreshing it.

One more thing , can i change the template of old iViews with the new template i have just created.

thanks

I don't think it is possible to change the template of the iview, once it is created.

Hi Raghu,

We can change the template of the iview after it has been created . I did it , so i thought i should share it with u.

We can change it by XML programming by using XML export & import method under system administration tab.

Hope it will be helful to others , who don't know about this.

Ajay

Hi Ajay,

The iView property "initial state of navigational panel" has an aditional property called "Automatic".

Automatic' opens the navigation panel only when it contains items to display, otherwise it will be closed.

I hope this will serve your purpose.

Hi Ansar,

You are correct but iViews are carrying related links which are taking screen space & not looking pretty too , that's why i want it to be closed by default.

Thanks

Hi Ajay,

"initial state of navigational panel" should be set to "always closed" by default .........this functionality already there in it Property.

just check it.

For this I tried changing the iView property Initial State - Open or Closed to Close (default is Open

Thanks

Hi Anup,

Hope u have understood the requirement .I have checked the property of SAP provided template iView , it is set to "automatic" by default . I can change the property of newly created iViews manually but there are more than 500 iViews , so it will take a lot of time in editing each iView.
